What To Do When It Seems Prayer Won't Heal You (Video)

Ayvaunn Penn, All Christian News
The short and true answer is to keep the faith, but it is not always that easy. The video above, however, allows us to have an in-depth exploration of the issue with a personal testimony -- my testimony of overcoming an unknown illness.
Not everyone is a Christian, but everyone, at some point in their life, suffers illness. Most are blessed to get well fairly quickly. But, what if the day comes when numerous doctors tell you that you are chronically ill? What if you are told that there is no cure? Perhaps even worse, what if you are told by doctor after doctor "We have no idea what your condition is, and hence, we have no idea how to cure it." ? For many people, that is a reality. In 2011, that was me.
As Christians we are instructed by the Bible to exercise our faith. In times of illness, our pastors and fellow church members remind us: "by His (Jesus') stripes we are healed"..."Grow not weary in well doing"..."Recall the healing scriptures"..."According to your faith, may it be done unto you." All of that is great, and all of that is true, but in the reality of our humanity the flesh is weak. Sometimes we get discouraged, but that is the beauty of sharing our testimonies. In II Corinthians 1:3 - 4 it reads:
“ 3Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort;  4Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.”
Above, you will find a video that chronicles my honest struggles -- as a Christian yet human young lady -- through an unknown illness. You will witness my confidence in the Word of God, the reality of doubt as my illness trudged on, the reassurance of my spirit from the Lord, and the testimony of the power of faith to heal not only physical maladies but spiritual brokenness.
The poem featured above is included in my upcoming book of poetry and short stories entitled Ephemeral Moments. The overarching theme of the book is the exploration of the perplexities of humanity through the eyes of a Christian young lady. Stay tuned to find out when it will be available to the public. In the meantime, please use the lyrical testimony featured in the video above to encourage yourself and/or others who may be struggling with illness and remind yourself that God is indeed true to His word.

  1. This is an excellent poem, video, and wonderful post. Be encouraged, my sister. Even as you go through the fire, you are teaching others how to also go through and be victorious in a way that transcends circumstance.
